The Outcome
Within six months, the programme delivered:

-
€350 million in additional wholesale funding capacity.
-
Implementation of manufacturer-supported retail and fleet finance programmes across the participating markets.
-
More consistent dealer credit assessment and financing processes.
-
Expanded funding coverage across the international vehicle supply chain.

The programme strengthened the financial infrastructure needed to support the brand's distribution network, sales recovery and long-term commercial development.
Our Approach
USD Consulting led a country-by-country review and restructuring of wholesale and retail financing arrangements, working with existing and alternative funding providers.

The programme focused on four priorities:

-
Wholesale funding: Ensuring contracted finance providers recognised the capital security provisions within existing agreements and made appropriate funding facilities available.
-
Dealer credit assessment: Introducing standardised, dealer-level creditworthiness assessments aligned with contractual requirements, replacing inconsistent local approaches to risk assessment.
-
Retail and fleet finance: Developing a consistent framework for manufacturer-supported finance programmes, including the application of interest-rate subvention and commercial support.
-
Alternative funding: Negotiating additional country-level finance arrangements to address gaps in existing provision.

The programme also established new financing solutions for vehicles in transit, including those at ports, storage compounds and aboard vessels, with appropriate consideration of international commercial and maritime requirements.
The Challenge
Following a change of ownership, a global automotive brand faced significant constraints in its wholesale and retail financing arrangements.

Despite existing agreements with finance providers, insufficient dealer stocking facilities and uncompetitive consumer and fleet finance propositions were restricting sales, threatening dealer network viability and undermining the brand's commercial recovery.

The challenge was to unlock the funding already envisaged under contractual arrangements, establish consistent financing standards across markets and secure additional facilities to support international vehicle distribution.
